The Queens, N.Y. rap mogul says he was offered money to support the president as well

Last month, hip-hop fans all over the country were shaking their heads in confusion and/or disappointment when Lil Wayne shared his glowing endorsement of Donald Trump. Now fellow rapper (and former Trump supporter) 50 Cent has come forward to share his conviction that Wayne was paid for allegiance to the outgoing president.

Tuesday, 50 called into The Breakfast Club for a lengthy 46-minute conversation covering a myriad of topics, most notably the recent election which saw many Black men in music shocking their fans by showing love to Trump.

Perhaps the most stunning part of the chat comes during the last ten minutes when the entertainer turned entertainment mogul reveals that he was offered a huge sum of money to attend Trump’s inauguration. According to him, the president’s team reached out to him and several other artists ahead of the 2020 election in what is speculated to have been an attempt to appeal to Black voters.

“He was needing it for the same reasons you see now,” 50 said of the negotiations which initially saw him being offered $500K to appear at the inauguration, and was later bumped up to a whopping $1M.

“He participated with different artists for the Black vote. And I’m going, ‘Nah, I ain’t gonna put myself in that position. ‘Cause I don’t know what I’d have to do to recover from that.”‘

When Breakfast Club co-host Charlamagne inquired if he believed Wayne had received the same sort of payment offer for his recent Trump endorsement, 50 matter of factly opined that he was “sure” he did.

“Yeah, I’m sure. … Easily, he got paid,” 50 said.

He does clarify, however, that he did not receive a single penny from the Trump team a few weeks ago during his recent tax-related critique of former vice president Joe Biden who has since been declared the President-elect.

As theGrio reported, 50 at first said he’d support Trump because his taxes would be too high.

It was alleged that high-earners making over 400K might pay as much as 60% in taxes in New York, New Jersey and California. 50’s ex, comedian Chelsea Handler, offered to pay his taxes if he retreated from his endorsement, which he finally did.
